Transforming Lives with God’s Word: Unleashing Spiritual Power

Unleashing the Power of God’s Word

As I reflect on my journey of sharing the Bible with others, I’m reminded of a pivotal moment that shaped my approach to teaching God’s word. It was my senior year of high school, and I had been given the opportunity to speak at our commencement ceremony. I knew I wanted to share a meaningful message from the Bible, but not everyone was pleased with the idea.

Overcoming Fear and Opposition

Some faculty members and classmates tried to have me removed from the schedule, fearing I would use the platform to share my faith. But I was determined to speak with sensitivity and confidence, knowing that God’s word has the power to transform lives. I spent time in prayer, seeking guidance and courage, and my mom prayed alongside me.

The Power of Conviction

As I stood at the lectern, I encouraged my fellow graduates to consider three phrases from Micah 6:8: “Doing justice. Loving kindness. And walking humbly.” I explained that these words were not just moral platitudes, but a call to action that requires a deep understanding of God’s character. As I mentioned Jesus, some family members and friends began to walk out, but my classmates remained, showing kindness and respect.

The Essential Convictions for Teaching the Bible

Looking back on that experience, I’m reminded that confidence in God’s word is essential for anyone who wants to teach the Bible. We need to trust that God acts through the proclamation of his word, and that the Holy Spirit can overcome any opposition to his word in the hearts of our hearers. We also need to trust that the Spirit can empower us to overcome our own fears and doubts.

Empowered by the Holy Spirit

As we prepare to teach the Bible, we must remember that it’s not about our own abilities or charisma, but about the power of God’s word to transform lives. We need to rely on the Holy Spirit to guide us, to give us wisdom, and to empower us to proclaim his word with confidence and conviction.

Teaching the Bible with Confidence

If you’re just starting out teaching the Bible, remember that confidence in God’s word is key. Trust that God acts through the proclamation of his word, and that the Holy Spirit can overcome any opposition to his word. With this confidence, you’ll be empowered to share God’s word with others, and to see lives transformed by its power.
