Stewardship of God’s Gifts
As believers, we often forget that everything we have belongs to God. We are merely managers of His resources, entrusted with the responsibility of using them according to His will. In Luke 16:1-9, Jesus teaches us a valuable lesson about stewardship through the parable of the dishonest manager.
The Parable of the Dishonest Manager
The manager in the parable was not faithful with his master’s possessions, and when confronted, he prioritized securing his own life over repenting. This parable serves as a warning to us: are we using God’s gifts to secure our eternal life or merely to benefit ourselves?
Money: A Gift from God
Jesus reminds us that money is a gift from God, intended to be used for His glory, not our own selfish purposes. We are not to make friends with God’s gifts to secure our life on earth; rather, we are to use them to store up treasures in heaven.
Faithfulness in Little Things
In Luke 16:10-13, Jesus emphasizes the importance of faithfulness in small things. If we are unfaithful with the little things, we will be unfaithful with the big things. Moreover, we cannot serve two masters – God and money. Money, like all other blessings, belongs to God, and it is not up to us to determine how it will be spent.
Seeking God’s Will
Instead, we should pray for guidance, seeking God’s will in how we use our resources. By doing so, we can ensure that our actions bring praise and glory to His name.
A Prayer for Stewardship
Heavenly Father, we pray that we would use all the blessings You have given us to bring praise and glory to Your name. May we seek Your will in all things, and may our hearts, souls, and minds be open to receive Your Living Word. Lead us by Your Holy Spirit, and may we be faithful stewards of Your gifts. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
