Rediscovering the True Meaning of Life in Christ
As we navigate the complexities of modern life, it’s easy to lose sight of what truly matters. We attend church, read the Bible, pray, and strive to be good people, yet often find ourselves living lives of quiet desperation. Despite our best efforts, Jesus can become just another aspect of our lives, rather than the central figure He intended to be.
The Intended Purpose of Jesus in Our Lives
God never designed Jesus to be a mere addition to our lives; He is our life. As Colossians 3:4 reminds us, “When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory” (NIV). When we try to find our purpose and meaning apart from Jesus, we ultimately lose our way. However, when we surrender our lives to Him, we discover an extraordinary life empowered by His presence within us.
The Consequences of Lukewarm Discipleship
Unfortunately, many of us settle for a watered-down version of Christianity, where Jesus is relegated to a compartmentalized or moderate place in our lives. This lukewarm discipleship is, in reality, radical disobedience to God’s intention. Jesus desires total abandonment and surrender, not partial commitment.
Breaking Free from Legalism and Idealism
Jesus is not interested in our programs, ideals, or forms of legalism. He wants to break through these barriers and lead us into a life of total obedience, where we follow Him without reservation. This is the only path to true freedom and an extraordinary life.
A Call to Radical Obedience
As we look to the endgame, it’s clear that Jesus expects nothing less than radical obedience from His followers. It’s time to reevaluate our priorities and surrender our lives fully to Him. Only then can we experience the abundant life He promised, a life that is truly energized by His presence within us.
