Finding Hope in a Turbulent World
As Carla and Jim sat in front of the evening news, they couldn’t help but wonder: should they bring a child into this chaotic world? The thought of their child facing the challenges of the future was daunting. Together, they sought guidance from a higher power, asking for wisdom in the face of uncertainty.
A Message of Peace
Carla found solace in a familiar song, its words washing away her fears and doubts. “Because He lives, I can face tomorrow… Because I know, I KNOW, He holds the future, And life is worth the living just because He lives.” The lyrics, penned by Bill and Gloria Gaither, brought an unexpected sense of peace to her weary heart. She shared the song with Jim, and together they pondered a crucial question: could they trust their Heavenly Father to hold their future in His hands?
An Anchor for the Soul
As Carla delved into her Bible, she stumbled upon a verse that would change her perspective: “We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure” (Hebrews 6:19). The surrounding verses revealed the certainty of God’s promise and His unchanging nature. With renewed assurance, Carla knew she couldn’t let fear dictate her decisions. Fear-based choices were not part of God’s plan; instead, He offered wisdom and guidance to those who sought it (James 1:5-8).
Overcoming Fear with Faith
In a world filled with uncertainty, it’s easy to let fear take the reins. We might be tempted to retreat, to avoid risks, or to shy away from difficult decisions. But fear shouldn’t be our guide. God is our anchor, our rock in times of turmoil. He offers hope and help in the face of fear, and we can count on Him to keep our faith strong and focused.
A Prayer for Courage
Father in Heaven, I know that fear can easily overwhelm me. Help me to trust in You, to seek Your wisdom and guidance in every decision. Keep my faith strong and focused on You, my anchor in a world that often seems adrift. Thank you for the certainty of Your firm, secure hand, which gives me hope and help in the face of fear. I declare my trust in You and ask You to fill me with Your Holy Spirit today. In Jesus’ strong name, I pray, amen.
