Embracing the Holiness of God
In the midst of life’s chaos, it’s easy to lose sight of God’s holiness. Yet, it’s essential to remember that His holiness is not just what He does, but who He is. As Leviticus 20:8 reminds us, “I am the Lord, who makes you holy.” This fundamental truth transforms our understanding of God and our relationship with Him.
The Nature of God’s Holiness
God’s holiness is not about His actions, but His very essence. He is without spot or blemish, and His eyes are too pure to look on sin. This perfection is what sets Him apart, making Him the Holy One. The Hebrew word “qadash” implies being pure, devoted to God, and set apart for a special task or worship.
Our Inability to Achieve Holiness
Despite our best efforts, we cannot make ourselves holy. No matter how hard we try or how perfectly we live, our perfection is not holiness. Only Jesus, the perfect one, can make us holy in Him. His plan of redemption involved taking our sins upon Himself and dying on the cross to make us holy.
The Blessing of God’s Holiness
As we acknowledge God’s holiness, we can experience freedom from perfectionism and the pressure to earn His love. Through Jesus’ death on the cross, His holiness is counted to our credit. Nothing we do can make Him love us less or more. We are free to rejoice in God’s holiness and our own, celebrating the beauty of His character and the glory of our Holy One who accepts us completely.
Fear Not, for You Are Mine
In Isaiah 43:1-3, God reminds us, “Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine.” He promises to be with us through life’s challenges, protecting us from harm and guiding us through the fire. As the Holy One of Israel, our Savior, He treats us with special care, setting us apart for His purposes, pleasure, and glory.
A Blessing of Freedom and Devotion
May you know deeply in your spirit that you are clean, dedicated, and consecrated to God. May you be free from anything that would make you unusable for His glory. May you be reserved exclusively for heart’s devotion and life’s affection for your holy Father. And may you appreciate that your Father knows you by name and will move mountains to keep His holy promises to you.
