Unlocking the Joy of God’s Presence

The Surprising Purpose of Quiet Time

As I settled into my private chamber, Bible in hand, I expected a peaceful and reflective experience. But my mind was elsewhere, preoccupied with the demands of the day ahead. The clock seemed to tick away, reminding me of the responsibilities I needed to attend to. I couldn’t help but feel frustrated, thinking that my quiet time had been a failure.

A Shift in Perspective

But then I heard a gentle whisper in my heart, “My dear daughter, I just wanted to spend time with you. I’ve enjoyed our time together.” In that moment, I realized that I had been thinking about quiet time all wrong. I had assumed it was primarily about my own spiritual growth and preparation for the day ahead. But what if the purpose of quiet time was not just about me, but about bringing joy to God?

The Power of Presence

We often acknowledge that God is always with us, watching over us with care. Yet, we struggle to grasp the depth of His personal love for each of us. We claim to have a relationship with Him, but do we truly understand what that means? What if we approached quiet time not just as a means to prepare ourselves for the day, but as an opportunity to bring delight to our Creator?

A New Attitude

Imagine if we began to see quiet time as a chance to give God joy, rather than just seeking our own spiritual fulfillment. How would that change our attitude towards this daily practice? We would no longer view it as a chore or a duty, but as a privilege to spend time with the One who loves us deeply. We would come to Him with gratitude, saying, “God, I am so grateful for your personal love for me. To think that you simply desire me to be in your presence is overwhelming. I love you.”

A Deeper Connection

As we shift our focus from our own needs to God’s desire for our presence, we may find that our quiet times become more meaningful and transformative. We will begin to understand that God’s love for us is not just about what He can do for us, but about the joy He derives from our very presence. And in that realization, we will find a deeper connection with Him, one that will stay with us throughout the day.
