Unpacking the Power of God’s Word
As I stepped into the Bible bindery in Bogota, Colombia, I was met with a sight that would change my perspective forever. Row upon row of cardboard boxes stretched out before me, each one packed with a precious cargo: the Word of God. Nearly a quarter of a million Bibles, in various sizes, bindings, and languages, were ready to be shipped to destinations around the world.
A Message of Redemptive Love
As I gazed upon the sea of boxes, I was struck by the realization that these were not just books, but vessels of God’s message of love and redemption. From Genesis to Revelation, the scarlet thread of God’s love weaves its way through the pages, speaking directly to the hearts of those who receive them.
The Ultimate Recipient
As I imagined the ultimate recipient of each Bible, I couldn’t help but wonder about the impact it would have on their life. Who would be the one to place it in their hands, to guide them in their journey towards a deeper, more intimate relationship with Him? The thought sent shivers down my spine.
Our Calling as Followers of Christ
We are called to spread the Word, to share the greatest message in all the world with those around us. Yet, how often do we keep God’s Word tightly wrapped up, failing to share it with even our closest neighbors? The boxes before me served as a poignant reminder of the importance of sharing our faith with others.
Taking Faith for Granted
As I reflected on my own life, I realized how often I take my faith for granted, keeping it to myself and failing to share it with others. I thought of all those who have never had the opportunity to hear the Word of God or experience His saving grace. The weight of my responsibility as a follower of Christ settled heavily upon me.
Running to Help
I recalled a recent scene of a bad automobile accident, where people rushed from every direction to help those in need. Yet, when we see someone lost without the security of God’s assurance and plan for salvation, do we respond with the same urgency? I am ashamed to admit that all too often, I don’t respond as I should.
A Commitment to Share
Can we make a commitment to share God’s Word, to ensure that Jesus doesn’t remain trapped in the delivery box? Will you join me in making a conscious effort to spread the Word, to share the love of God with those around us?
Do You Care?
Do you care if those around you hear about Jesus? Take a moment to reflect on your answer, and let it guide your actions today.
