The Power of Humility
God’s heart beats for the humble. In Psalm 149:4, we’re reminded that “He saves the humble.” This isn’t just a passing sentiment; it’s a fundamental aspect of God’s character. With the same passion that He despises arrogance, God adores humility.
The Gentle and Humble Spirit
Jesus, the epitome of gentleness and humility, invites us to emulate His spirit. As He says in Matthew 11:29, “I am gentle and humble in spirit.” It’s no wonder that He has a special affinity for those who share these qualities. When we choose to walk in humility, we open ourselves up to God’s care and provision.
God’s Care for the Humble
Psalm 138:6 reveals the depth of God’s concern for the humble: “Though the Lord is supreme, He takes care of those who are humble.” This isn’t just a vague promise; it’s a concrete reality for those who humble themselves before Him. As Isaiah 57:15 affirms, “I live with people who are… humble.” God desires to dwell among us, to walk alongside us, and to guide us – but only when we approach Him with humility.
God’s Pleasure in Humility
What pleases God? It’s not grand gestures or lofty achievements. Rather, it’s the humble heart that wins His favor. As Isaiah 66:2 declares, “These are the people I am pleased with: those who are not proud or stubborn.” When we shed our pride and self-reliance, we become the kind of people God delights in.
Treasures for the Humble
And what does God give to the humble? Treasure beyond measure! When we choose to walk in humility, we open ourselves up to receive the riches of God’s kingdom. As we lay aside our arrogance and self-importance, we create space for God to work in and through us, bringing forth a harvest of blessing and joy.
