Warming Hearts in Winter’s Chill: A Call to Serve

Winter’s Chill: A Call to Action

As I wrap my hands around a steaming cup of tea, trying to shake off the bitter cold of a Colorado winter morning, I’m struck by the words of St. Teresa of Avila: “Christ has no body now on earth but yours; No hands but yours; No feet but yours…” These profound words echo in my mind, challenging me to reexamine my role in serving others.

A Life of Purpose

The biting wind outside serves as a stark reminder of the struggles faced by those without the comfort of a warm home. As I ponder my own blessings, I’m compelled to ask: Are my hands truly doing all they can to meet the needs of those shivering in the cold? Have I grown complacent in my monthly donations to the local agency, thinking that’s enough? John the Baptist’s urgent cry echoes in my heart: “Produce fruit in keeping with repentance.” Is it time for me to do more than just pray?

Answering the Call

As I reflect on my life, I realize that it’s not just about hearing God’s words, but about taking action. It’s about using my resources, my hands, and my feet to make a tangible difference in the lives of others. I’m reminded of the profound impact I can have when I choose to be sensitive to the needs of those around me. My prayer becomes: “Father, thank you for all you provide for me. Help me to be your hands and feet, using my resources to serve others in your name.”

A Challenge to Us All

As we navigate the chill of winter, let us not forget the warmth of God’s love. Let us use our unique gifts and resources to bring hope and comfort to those who need it most. Will you join me in this journey of service, using our hands and feet to spread love and kindness in our communities?
