The Art of Waiting: Unveiling God’s Perfections
When we pray, we often expect immediate answers. But what happens when God seems silent? Our faith is stretched to its limits, and we’re tempted to take matters into our own hands. However, this approach can lead to turmoil, exhaustion, and failure. The Bible is replete with examples of individuals who learned the hard way: Abraham with Ishmael, Saul’s priestly usurpation, and Israel’s misguided trust in Egypt (Isaiah 30:1-3).
Why the Wait?
So, why does an all-powerful God make us wait? Perhaps the answer lies not in the outcome of our request, but in God’s desire to reveal more of Himself and our identity in Him. Through waiting, God showcases His impeccable ability to orchestrate every detail, demonstrating His omniscience, omnipresence, and omni-caring nature.
The Substance of Faith
We often crave tangible proof, but faith is not about evidence; it’s the conviction of things unseen (Hebrews 11:1). The Holy Spirit whispers, “I’m giving you the substance of faith.” He grants us the grace to await His purposes, even when we don’t see immediate results.
Submission, Not Resignation
Waiting is not about passively twiddling our thumbs; it’s an active submission to God’s superior plan. In community with fellow believers, we can humble ourselves, receive from one another, and gain a deeper understanding of God’s multifaceted plan. This communal support encourages us to wait with grace, trusting that God is working all things together for our good.
Embracing the Journey
As we navigate the waiting season, let’s focus on the One who is always present, always powerful, and always caring. Let’s ask the Holy Spirit to reveal more of God’s perfections, and may our faith be strengthened in the process. For in waiting, we discover that God’s timing is indeed split-second, and His purposes are always worth the wait.
