Embracing True Freedom
The Power of Liberation
No one can grant us true freedom except Jesus Christ. He alone can break the chains that bind us, and His liberation is a gift that comes from a place of righteousness. As the Heir of all things, Jesus has the authority to set people free, and His justice secures our salvation.
A Freedom Dearly Purchased
This liberty comes at a great cost, one that was paid in full by Christ’s blood. Yet, He freely gives it to us, without asking for anything in return. He finds us in our darkest moments, surrounded by the ashes of our past, and encourages us to put on the beautiful garments of freedom.
The Unconditional Gift of Liberty
Jesus saves us just as we are, without expecting anything from us. His gift of liberty is unconditional, and it is perpetually entailed. No chains can bind us again, no matter how hard Satan tries to enslave us. If the Lord is on our side, we have nothing to fear.
The Assurance of Freedom
The world may try to tempt us, but God is mightier than all our enemies. Our own hearts may deceive us, but God will carry out the good work He has begun in us. Even when our foes gather against us, God’s acquittal is all that matters.
Living Out Our Freedom
So, if we are no longer under the law, but free from its curse, let us practically exhibit our liberty by serving God with gratitude and delight. Let us ask, “Lord, what would You have me do?” and seek to live out our freedom in a way that honors Him.
The Paradox of Freedom
But why does the Christian life sometimes feel restrictive? Is it not because we misunderstand true freedom? True freedom is not the absence of restraint, but the divine enabling that allows us to become all we were meant to be. It is a freedom that comes from surrendering to God’s will, rather than trying to live life on our own terms.
