The Power of Humility: Unlocking God’s Blessings
In Matthew 7:7-8, Jesus teaches us a valuable lesson about the importance of humility in our relationship with God. The verse says, “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.”
Overcoming Fear and Pride
So often, we struggle to ask for help because it requires us to admit our limitations and vulnerabilities. We fear that others will see our weaknesses and judge us. However, Jesus encourages us to set aside our pride and ask for what we need. When we do, we open ourselves up to receive God’s blessings and guidance.
The Importance of Effort and Perseverance
Seeking and knocking require effort and perseverance. They demand that we be intentional and dedicated in our pursuit of God’s will. It’s not enough to simply ask and then sit back and wait for answers. We must be willing to put in the work and seek God with all our hearts.
A Simple yet Powerful Principle
The A.S.K. principle is a simple yet powerful way to approach our relationship with God. It reminds us to ask for what we need, seek God’s guidance, and knock on the door of opportunity. By doing so, we demonstrate our trust and dependence on God, and we open ourselves up to receive His blessings.
From Whining to Worship
So often, our prayers are filled with whines, complaints, and concerns. But God wants us to bring our hearts before Him, to seek His glory and worship Him. Let us commit to changing our approach to prayer, to asking, seeking, and knocking with humility and reverence.
A Prayer for Guidance
Dear Heavenly Father, I confess that I often come to you with a list of complaints and concerns. Help me to shift my focus from my own needs to your glory and will. Give me the courage to ask, seek, and knock, and may I receive your blessings and guidance in return. Amen.
