Living Among the Unholy
As a follower of Christ, you’re acutely aware that you reside in a world that’s far from godly. It’s easy to feel overwhelmed, to cry out in despair, “Woe is me!” But Jesus didn’t pray for you to be removed from this world; instead, He equipped you to thrive in it.
The Eyes of Others
Satan is constantly on the lookout for any cracks in your armor, waiting to pounce on your weaknesses. That’s why it’s crucial to live a life of holiness, to stand firm against the temptations that surround you. Moreover, the eyes of non-believers are fixed on you, expecting more from you than from others. Make sure your actions are above reproach, that your goodness is the only “fault” they can find.
Serving God in Adversity
Perhaps you think, “If only I were in a better situation, I could serve the Lord more effectively.” But the truth is, the more challenging your environment, the greater the need for your presence. Those around you, whether near or far from God, require someone like you to share His love and truth with them. Just as a doctor is most needed where sickness abounds, so too are you needed in the midst of spiritual darkness.
Enduring Hardship
When the struggles seem insurmountable, remember that you’re not alone. Throughout history, God’s saints have faced similar trials, and yet they persevered. They didn’t take the easy road to heaven; neither should you expect a trouble-free journey. Instead, draw strength from their examples, and stand firm in your faith. As the apostle Paul urged, “Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong” (1 Corinthians 16:13).
The Power of Holiness
So, how does holiness impact your witness to others? When you live a life set apart for God, you become a beacon of hope in a dark world. Your goodness, your love, and your courage in the face of adversity all testify to the transformative power of Christ. Will you rise to the challenge, embracing holiness as a way of life, and shining His light to those around you?
