The Power of Surrender
In the realm of eternity, the Holy One resides, surrounded by those whose hearts are humble and contrite. It is here that the crushed spirit is restored, and the courage of the repentant is revived (Isaiah 57:15). This sacred space is not reserved for the mighty or the proud, but for those who have surrendered their will to the divine.
A Vessel of Honor
Kathryn Kuhlman once said that God seeks not golden or silver vessels, but yielded ones. A yielded vessel is one that has been sanctified, cleansed, and set apart for God’s purposes. It is a vessel of honor, one that recognizes its dependence on the Lord and walks in humility (2 Timothy 2:21).
Dependence on the Divine
A yielded vessel does not rely on its own strength or abilities. Instead, it acknowledges its need for total dependence on God. It is a vessel that has been emptied of self, making room for the presence of the Lord. Without His presence, it is but an empty shell, devoid of purpose.
Receptivity to the Holy Spirit
The yielded vessel is receptive to the flow of the Holy Spirit, much like water flowing downhill. It is into this vessel that the Spirit pours out His blessings. As the apostle Paul wrote, “We have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us” (2 Corinthians 4:7).
A Prayer of Surrender
Lord, I yield myself to You. I choose to be set apart, humble, and dependent on Your grace. Use me as You see fit – pick me up or set me down, use me now or later, in a prominent place or in obscurity. I am content to be in Your hands, to be known by You, and to bring You glory in all things.
By surrendering ourselves to God, we become vessels of honor, filled with His presence and power. May we strive to be yielded vessels, dependent on the Lord, and receptive to the flow of the Holy Spirit.
