The Power of Seeking
A Heartfelt Pursuit
In a world where we’re accustomed to searching for things like bargains and lost keys, the concept of seeking often gets lost in translation. Yet, this powerful verb is woven throughout the fabric of the Bible, appearing over 240 times in various forms. So, what does it truly mean to seek?
A Deliberate Choice
Dr. Skip Moen defines seeking as a deliberate act of the will, where we prioritize God’s rule and will above all else. It’s a choice to put our entire lives at His disposal, without condition or expectation. But how often do we genuinely seek God, rather than simply going through the motions?
Unwavering Determination
Consider the persistent widow in Jesus’ parable, who refused to give up until justice was served. Or Jacob, who wrestled with the angel of God, demanding a blessing. These individuals demonstrate a relentless pursuit of God’s presence, un deterred by obstacles or silence. Can we say the same about our own spiritual journeys?
A Morning Prayer
As we begin each day, let us echo the words of ‘A Guide to Prayer’: “Lord, you have promised to meet those who seek your face. Come now and reveal your presence to me as I make myself present to you.” May we resist the temptation to simply skim through Bible verses, and instead, passionately pursue God like a deer thirsting for water.
A Call to Authenticity
Father, help us not be satisfied with superficial devotion. May we hunger for Your presence, even when the answers seem distant or unclear. As we seek Your face, may we find ourselves transformed, with our priorities reordered to reflect Your kingdom and righteousness.
