Replenishing Our Spiritual Virtue
As we navigate the complexities of life, it’s easy to get worn down by the demands of our daily routines. Even when we’re engaged in good works, we can find ourselves drained of energy and vitality. This is precisely what the enemy of our souls desires – to exhaust us and distract us from our primary purpose: to minister to Christ.
The Dangers of Weariness
In the book of Daniel, we’re warned of a time when the enemy will attempt to “wear down the saints of the Highest One” (Daniel 7:25). This is a stark reminder that we’re not designed to operate in our own strength, but rather in the power and presence of God. When we neglect our intimacy with Christ, we open ourselves up to weariness and spiritual depletion.
A Lesson Learned
In my early days of ministry, I was blessed to have a season of consecrated time with the Lord, from dawn until noon. It was a sanctuary of love, where I would worship, pray, and study His Word. However, as my ministry grew, I began to compromise on this sacred time, allowing the demands of others to erode my devotional life. I soon found myself in a growing ministry, but with a shrinking anointing to sustain it.
A Wake-Up Call
One day, an intercessor shared a dream he had, in which the Lord said, “Tell Francis I miss him.” These words pierced my heart, and I realized the error of my ways. I had been so focused on ministering to others that I had neglected my primary ministry – to Christ. I repented, readjusted my priorities, and recommitted to spending quality time with God.
A Surprising Response
When I announced to my congregation that my mornings were off limits, consecrated to God, I was met with applause! They wanted a leader who spent more time with God, not one who was tired and worn out. This experience taught me that our people desire authenticity and spiritual leadership, not just busy-ness and activity.
Prioritizing Our Time with God
As we move forward in these uncertain times, our primary focus must be on ministering to Christ. We’ll face increased pressures and demands, but we must position ourselves continually in the presence of God. To miss our time with Jesus is to miss His glory in the day of His presence. Let us cultivate the fragrance of Jesus in secret, that it may manifest through us the knowledge of Him in every place.
