Radiant Faces: Reflecting God’s Glory Through Worship

Reflecting the Glory of God

The Purpose of Worship

Worship is not just about singing songs or attending church services; its ultimate goal is to transform the worshiper. This transformation is not just internal, but also external, affecting even our physical appearance. As 2 Corinthians 3:18 reminds us, “We all show the Lord’s glory, and we are being changed to be like him.”

The Transfiguration of Jesus

We see a powerful example of this transformation in the life of Jesus. On the mountain, his appearance was dramatically altered: “His face became bright like the sun” (Matthew 17:2). This change was not just a fleeting moment, but a reflection of the glory of God that dwelled within him.

The Face of Worship

There is a significant connection between our faces and our worship. Our face is the most public and recognizable part of our body, exposed for all to see. It is no coincidence that God desires to use our faces to reflect his goodness. Just as a school annual features photos of faces, not feet, God wants to use our faces to showcase his glory.

A Reflection of God’s Goodness

God’s desire is to take our faces, with all their imperfections and doubts, and transform them into reflections of his love and goodness. As we worship, we are being changed, transformed into the likeness of Christ. Our faces, once ordinary, become radiant with the glory of God.
