Living a Life Worthy of the Lord: A Daily Prayer for Purpose and Joy

Living a Life Worthy of the Lord

As I began my day, I was blessed to receive a heartfelt prayer from a dear friend, sent via email. Our families have shared a special bond over the years, and despite periods of distance, our connection remains strong. We’ve come to treasure the prayers we offer for one another’s families, and recently, we’ve been sharing inspiring nuggets from God’s word through brief emails.

A Powerful Prayer

Today, my friend shared a prayer from Colossians 1:10, which resonated deeply with me. The passage reads: “We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of His will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives, so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please Him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, being strengthened with all power according to His glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, and giving joyful thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of His holy people in the kingdom of light.”

A Personal and Applicable Prayer

What struck me was how my friend personalized this prayer by adding, “…may you live a day worthy of the Lord…” It’s not just about living a life worthy of Him, but about living each day with intention and purpose. My prayer became: “Heavenly Father, thank you for the rich words of Your Scripture. May I live today worthy of You… this day, this moment.”

Seeking Wisdom and Strength

I pray that my words, actions, and attitudes may all reflect my Lord. I ask that You fill me with Your wisdom and understanding by Your Spirit. May You bear fruit through me as I grow in my knowledge of You. Strengthen me according to Your power that raised Jesus from the dead. That’s the power in which I want to live this day!

A Heartfelt Request

I pray this in Jesus’ name, amen. May we all strive to live a life worthy of the Lord, pleasing Him in every way, and giving joyful thanks to the Father for the incredible inheritance we’ve been given.
