Embracing Our True Identity
As we gaze upon the faces of the children at the Cap Haitian orphanage, one girl stands out – Carinette. Her distinctive features, including a long nose and bushy hair, are accompanied by a precious handful of photos. These snapshots hold the images of her future family, a family that has already chosen her as their own. In a beautiful display of love and anticipation, her adoptive parents, friends of mine, have sent her gifts – a teddy bear, granola bars, and cookies.
A Heart Headed Home
Carinette shares the treats with the others, but she guards the photos closely, reminders of the home she will soon call her own. Within a month, perhaps two, she will embark on a new journey, leaving the orphanage behind. Her heart beats with excitement, knowing that her father will return to claim her, just as he did before. This time, he will take her to her forever home.
A Father’s Love
Shouldn’t we, too, live with hearts headed home? Our heavenly Father has also paid us a visit, claiming us as His own. Long before we realized our need for adoption, God had already chosen us, preparing a place for us in His kingdom. We are not orphans, but beloved children, adopted into His family.
Reflecting on God’s Love
As we reflect on God’s boundless love, we are reminded of Ephesians 1:4, which declares, “He chose us in Him before the foundations of the world.” This profound truth should fill our hearts with joy, knowing that we are not alone, but part of a loving family, with a Father who desires to carry us home.
