The Promise of Eternal Wholeness
A New Body, Free from Suffering
Have you ever stopped to think about the incredible promise Jesus made to reunite our bodies with our souls, creating an eternal body unlike anything we’ve ever seen? According to Ephesians 1:10, God’s plan is to “gather together in one all things in Christ,” and that includes our physical bodies.
The Reality of Our Current State
Let’s face it – our bodies are fragile and prone to disease, infections, and decay. Even on our best days, we’re still vulnerable to illness and injury. And what about those worst days, when our bodies fail us and we’re left feeling helpless? It’s no wonder Jesus hates disease as much as we do.
A Glimpse of Healing
Consider the story of the deaf mute in Mark 7:33-34. Jesus took the man aside, touched his ears and tongue, and spoke the words “Ephphatha,” or “Be opened.” But what stands out most is Jesus’ sigh – a deep breath of sadness and a glance heavenward that says, “It won’t be this way for long.” This healing is a testament to Jesus’ power and promise to heal all who seek him.
No Exceptions, No Conditions
There are no exceptions to this promise – no fine print, no nuances, no caveats. Jesus will heal all who come to him, and that includes those who may not experience healing in this life. As 1 John 3:2 reminds us, “When He appears, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is.” These words offer hope and comfort to all who suffer, regardless of their circumstances.
A Promise for All
Let these words bring comfort to parents of children with disabilities, to those struggling with chronic illness, and to anyone who feels broken or incomplete. Let them be a reminder that our current state is not our eternal reality. We shall be like him – whole, complete, and free from suffering.
