Finding Peace in Turbulent Times
As believers, we often wonder if living a Spirit-filled life means we’re exempt from problems and troubles. Dr. Bill Bright sheds light on this question, offering a reassuring message of hope and guidance.
The Reality of Life’s Challenges
Jerry, a new Christian, asked a thought-provoking question: Do Spirit-filled Christians face the same kind of problems as non-believers and disobedient Christians? The answer may surprise you. While Spirit-filled believers don’t escape all troubles, they don’t experience the same kind of problems as others. Why? Because most problems we face are self-imposed, resulting from our own choices and actions.
The Power of Living by Faith
A Spirit-filled person seeks to do God’s will, living by faith and drawing upon the supernatural resources of the Holy Spirit. This means that even in the face of loss, financial struggles, illness, and disappointment, God is always present, providing guidance, wisdom, and strength. The Lord undergirds, helps, inspires, motivates, and encourages us, imparting physical, mental, and spiritual resources to navigate life’s challenges.
Trusting in God’s Sovereignty
When tragedy strikes, the Spirit-filled person knows that God remains in control. By faith and obedience to Scripture (1 Thessalonians 5:18), we can give thanks in all things, trusting that God helps us in each and every trouble. He even protects us from accidents, as Psalm 34:19-20 reminds us.
Today’s Reflection
Take a moment to reflect on your own life. Are you facing challenges that seem insurmountable? Remember that your loving God and Father is working in and through every problem you face, guiding you towards maturity and Christlikeness. Today, look for opportunities to remind yourself and others of this comforting truth.
