Finding God in the Dark: A Journey of Trust and Healing

Trusting God in the Darkest Moments

Have you ever felt abandoned by God? Perhaps you’ve experienced a traumatic event that left you questioning His presence in your life. For Susie Davis, that moment came when she was just 14 years old. She witnessed a fellow student shoot and kill their teacher in front of the entire class. The incident shook her to her core, leaving her feeling scared and unsure if God was still with her.

A Crisis of Faith

On the surface, Susie seemed like a model Christian – her behavior and attitudes were exemplary. However, deep down, she was struggling with fear and sadness. She felt like God had abandoned her, and that feeling was far more terrifying than the violence she had witnessed.

Seeking Answers in God’s Word

Despite her doubts, Susie continued to pray and seek understanding in God’s Word. One day, she stumbled upon Psalm 22, which speaks of Christ’s suffering on the cross. In that moment, Jesus felt abandoned by His Father, yet He still recognized God’s perfect will. This revelation sparked a turning point in Susie’s journey.

Acknowledging God’s Holiness

As Susie acknowledged God’s holiness, she began to experience healing. She realized that God was not only present but also sovereign, even in the darkest moments. Her trust in Him was restored, and she once again felt His loving presence in her life.

A Message of Hope

If you’re feeling far from God, know that He is always with you. You may not feel His presence, but He is working behind the scenes to bring you closer to Him. Trust in His goodness and holiness, just as Susie did, and you’ll find that He is faithful to guide you through even the toughest times.
