Overcoming Life’s Obstacles
The Unexpected Twist
A recent baseball game highlighted the concept of “home field disadvantage” when a pop fly hit a catwalk high above the infield, turning a potential out into a game-winning single. This unexpected twist led to the home team’s defeat. In life, we all face similar obstacles that can hinder our progress. So, what’s your catwalk – the thing that gets in the way between you and God?
Identifying the Way Through
Scripture reveals many obstacles, but the key is to identify the way through, over, and around them. Jesus, the “truth and the light,” is the mediator between God and us. He invites us to “follow me,” and to do so, we must take up His cross. When we do, no object can block us from experiencing God’s love and presence in our lives.
Loyalty to God
Jesus’ first commandment was to love God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength. When our heart is loyal to God, we don’t have to search for Him – He’s already searching for us! Life’s challenges may seem insurmountable, but with a loyal heart, we can trust God to demonstrate His strength in our lives.
Seeking God
The question is not whether God is looking for His people, but whether His people are seeking Him. Take comfort in God’s promise to watch over you and desire to give you victory. Though roadblocks may alter your journey, remain steadfast in your faith, and you will reach your destination.
Removing the Barriers
In today’s fast-paced world, it’s easy for “catwalks” to get in our way and block us from God’s love. But Jesus said to seek Him first, and all else will fall into place. We can have faith, but faith without direction is of little value. What direction is your faith taking you? Who do you trust to guide you through life’s uncertainties? If it’s anyone or anything other than Jesus, you have a “catwalk” in your way.
Staying Focused
As we navigate life’s challenges, let’s keep our eyes fixed on Jesus, the one who said, “If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.” By doing so, we’ll overcome life’s obstacles and experience the love and presence of God in our lives.
