Embracing Eternal Purpose
As we flipped through the pages of Psalm 92, two verses caught our attention: “The righteous will flourish like a palm tree…” (v. 12) and “They will still bear fruit in old age, they will stay fresh and green” (v. 14). These words echoed in our minds as we paused to listen to the conversation behind us.
A Chance Encounter
An older gentleman was sharing his faith with a younger man, emphasizing the importance of being right with God in light of a recent tragic train accident. The younger man was skeptical, but the older man’s conviction was unwavering. He spoke of his assurance of heaven and encouraged the younger man to examine his heart. As they parted ways, we couldn’t help but approach the older man, who was sitting in his car with the window rolled down.
A Heart on Fire
We expressed our admiration for his boldness in sharing the Gospel. With a warm smile, he attributed his passion to the transformative power of God in his life. At 92 years young, he remained dedicated to spreading the Good News. His story resonated deeply, echoing the words of Dr. Bill Bright: “God has something for us to do until our last breath.”
Empowered Witnesses
Jesus’ command in Acts 1:8 (AMP) rings true: “But when you receive power (ability, efficiency, and might) when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you shall be my witnesses…” This promise is not limited by age or ability; it’s a call to all believers.
Overcoming Fear and Inadequacy
Do you feel hesitant to share your faith, fearing rejection or inadequacy? Remember, trust in the Lord to guide and empower you. He desires to use you as a vessel to share His love and forgiveness with others.
A Prayer for Courage
Father, people need to know about your love and forgiveness. Your Holy Spirit gives us the power and courage to witness. Help us to trust you to give us the words to tell others about your plan for eternity. Amen.
