Reflecting on the Hidden Corners of Our Lives
As we journey through life, many of us strive to live in a way that honors God. We confess our mistakes, seek forgiveness, and gratefully receive His grace. Yet, there are often areas in our lives that we tend to overlook, hidden corners that we wouldn’t consider grave offenses, but would still grieve Jesus if we were face to face with Him.
The Power of Self-Reflection
I recall the weekly ritual of housecleaning from my childhood, where every nook and cranny was meticulously cleaned. My mother’s keen eye could detect even the smallest speck of dirt, and her response to my protests of “no one will ever see it” was always, “But I will know it’s there.” This same principle applies to our spiritual lives. When we invite God to search our hearts, we may uncover areas that need attention, but would otherwise remain hidden.
Exposing the Hidden Corners
The Psalmist’s prayer, “Search me, O God… See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting” (Psalm 139), becomes a powerful model for us. Are we willing to ask God to reveal the hidden corners of our lives, even if it means confronting uncomfortable truths? When we do, we open ourselves up to a deeper, richer friendship with Him.
Walking in Unrestricted Fellowship
As we allow God’s light to shine into every corner of our lives, we can walk in unrestricted fellowship with Him. It’s a beautiful exchange: we surrender our hidden corners, and He grants us His love, forgiveness, and guidance. May we echo the Psalmist’s prayer, inviting God to search our hearts and lead us in the way everlasting. Thank you, Father, for shining your light of love into every corner of my life, that I may walk in freedom and intimacy with you.
