The Unwavering Heart of Jesus
A Life of Unshakeable Purity
The wisdom of God is characterized by purity, peace, gentleness, and a willingness to please. This divine wisdom was embodied in the life of Jesus, whose heart remained untainted by the corrupting influences of the world. Despite being revered by thousands, Jesus chose to live a humble, uncomplicated life. Women supported him financially (Luke 8:1-3), yet he never succumbed to lustful thoughts. Even when scorned by those he created, Jesus demonstrated unwavering mercy, forgiving them before they even asked.
A Lamb, Unblemished and Spotless
Peter, who spent three and a half years by Jesus’ side, described him as a “lamb, unblemished and spotless” (1 Peter 1:19 NASB). John, another close companion, concurred, stating, “And in him is no sin” (1 John 3:5 NIV). Jesus’ heart was a beacon of purity, untainted by the sin that plagues humanity.
A Peace That Transcends Turmoil
Jesus’ heart was also characterized by profound peace. While his disciples fretted over feeding the multitudes, Jesus thanked God for the opportunity. When a fierce storm threatened to capsize their boat, Jesus slept peacefully, undisturbed by the turmoil. Even when confronted by armed soldiers, Jesus remained calm, choosing to heal rather than fight. His heart was a sanctuary of peace, unshaken by the chaos that surrounded him.
A Life of Unwavering Gentleness
The life of Jesus was a testament to the power of gentleness. He moved with quiet confidence, never seeking to draw attention to himself. His was a heart that lifted others up, rather than seeking to elevate himself. In a world torn apart by conflict and division, Jesus’ heart remained a beacon of hope, a shining example of the transformative power of love and compassion.
