The Enduring Power of Words
As I reflect on the passing of a legendary singer from the 1960s, her iconic voice echoes in my mind, transporting me back to a bygone era. This phenomenon got me thinking about the profound impact of our words. Jesus, in His teachings, often challenged conventional wisdom, declaring, “You have heard it said… but I say to you…” His followers, too, recalled the transformative conversations they had with Him, saying, “Were our hearts not burning within us while He talked with us on the road?”
A Legacy of Eternal Significance
The words we speak carry a strange and wonderful power. As we surrender to Jesus Christ’s guidance, cultivating silence and solitude to better hear God’s voice, our own words are transformed. The message we convey and the life we lead take on a new radiance. I ponder what will be said of me when I’m gone. Though I may not be a singer, I wonder if my words, directions, and the life I’ve lived will continue to resonate clearly.
Leaving a Lasting Imprint
Father, I thank you for the freedom we experience as we walk in the light of Your Word and Holy Spirit. I’m grateful for Your gentle nudges when my words have been my own, rather than Yours. May my words—and my life—have eternal influence. As we speak, may our voices echo with the transformative power of Christ, leaving a lasting imprint on the hearts of those around us.
