Surrendering to God’s Plan
When we choose to surrender our lives to God, we open ourselves up to a life of purpose and meaning. As Psalm 37:5 reminds us, “Commit everything you do to the Lord. Trust Him to help you do it and He will.” But what does it truly mean to commit everything to God?
The Power of Total Commitment
Janet, a young student, once asked me how she could commit everything she did to the Lord. I explained that it’s not just about words, but about dedicating our entire being – intellect, emotions, and will – to doing God’s will in every situation. It’s about trusting that God will help us accomplish what He has called us to do.
The Gap Between Words and Actions
Unfortunately, many of us fall short of this total commitment. We sing hymns like “Sweet Hour of Prayer” but barely manage five minutes of devotion a day. We sing “Onward Christian Soldiers” but wait for someone else to take the lead. We sing “O For a Thousand Tongues to Sing” but fail to share the Gospel with those around us. The list goes on.
Consistency and Commitment
But what if we were to combine consistency with commitment? What if we were to dedicate our lives to serving God, not just in words, but in actions? The result would be a life of supernatural enablement, marked by triumph and fruitfulness.
Today’s Challenge
As we read Proverbs 3:5-10, let’s remember that today is a new opportunity to commit everything we do to the Lord. Let’s trust Him to help us do what He has called us to do, and let’s make a conscious effort to share His love and forgiveness with someone else today.
Stepping Out in Faith
By surrendering our lives to God, we open ourselves up to a life of purpose and meaning. So let’s take the first step today, and watch as God works in and through us to bring about a life of triumph and fruitfulness.
