The Power of Planting Seeds
In a world where faith is often pushed to the periphery, I once found myself working in a program where overt expressions of spirituality were discouraged. Yet, I knew that I could still make a difference by living out my values and principles. I prayed for the courage to be a seed planter, teaching biblically-based principles and treating my clients with love and respect.
The Ripple Effect of Kindness
One person who benefited from this approach was Maria. Her story was one of heart-wrenching loss – she had lost her marriage, children, health, and work. When she arrived at our career transition program, she seemed like a shadow of her former self. But as we worked together, I saw her begin to heal and find new purpose. By the time she left, she radiated a sense of hope and renewal.
The Unexpected Reunion
Years later, Maria surprised us with an unexpected visit to our office. The transformation was nothing short of remarkable. This vibrant woman had found meaningful work and was now involved with a local Divorce Care ministry, which had helped her embark on a deeper journey of healing. As we caught up, she paused and asked, “You’re all Christians, aren’t you?” We nodded in agreement, and she shared how she had sensed something different about us from the start.
The Fruit of Faith
Maria’s story is a powerful reminder that seeds matter. As she reflected on her journey, she realized that our actions had played a small part in her transformation. Like the leper who returned to thank Jesus for his healing, Maria wanted to express her gratitude for the role we had played in her story.
Where Are You Planting Today?
As I reflect on Maria’s journey, I am reminded of the importance of planting seeds of faith, hope, and love. Where are you planting today? Take a moment to pray for the courage to plant seeds, the belief that others will water, and the faith to wait while God makes things grow. May we be faithful seed planters, trusting in God’s power to transform lives. Amen.
