A Different Kind of Mother’s Day
As I stood at the back of the church on Mother’s Day, I was met with tears, hugs, and stories of heartache. Women from all walks of life shared their struggles with me, and I listened with compassion. One by one, they poured out their hearts, revealing the pain they felt on this day.
The Unspoken Pain
For many, Mother’s Day is a celebration filled with joy, love, and appreciation. But for others, it’s a painful reminder of what’s lacking. The absence of a child, the loss of a mother, or the ache of regret can make this day feel like a burden. The silence is deafening, and the pain can be overwhelming.
A Special Invitation
But there is hope. God, our Father, extends an invitation to those who hurt. Through His son Jesus, He speaks directly to our souls, offering rest and comfort. This invitation is not just a vague promise; it’s a tangible offer of healing and peace.
Finding Comfort in God
So, how do we claim this rest when our souls are in pain? We start by responding to God’s invitation. As we look to Him for comfort, we can take symbolic actions to bring healing. For example, if you’ve lost a child, consider planting a rose bush or flower bed in their memory. If you’re missing your own mother, take a potted plant to a nursing home to brighten someone’s day.
Practical Steps to Healing
If your arms long for a child, ask God to begin healing your heart and guide you in reaching out to a child in need. If relationships are strained, ask God to show you how to start rebuilding. Take small steps, like sending a simple card or inviting a friend to spend time with you.
God’s Desire for You
Our Father God desires to heal our broken hearts and bring us rest. He wants to pull us upward and onward, out of the darkness and into the light. It won’t be easy, and it won’t happen overnight, but with God’s guidance, we can move forward.
A Prayer for Healing
Father God, my heart hurts with unspoken pain. I need Your help to get through today. I need Your comfort, strength, and forgiveness. Today, I give You the empty spaces in my soul. I give You my pain and ask You to bring Your healing to my damaged emotions and life. Thank you for the promise of rest for my weary soul. I lean on You today. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
