From Weakness to Strength: Embracing God’s Power

Embracing Our Weaknesses: The Power of God’s Strength

Have you ever felt utterly unqualified for a task, like you’re in way over your head? You’re not alone. Even the great leaders of the Bible, like Moses, have been there too.

The Reluctant Leader

At the burning bush, Moses was given a daunting assignment: to confront Pharaoh and free the Israelites from slavery. But Moses was hesitant, citing his own inadequacies and past failures. “Who, me? You’ve got the wrong person, God,” he essentially said. Yet, God saw beyond Moses’ limitations and chose him anyway.

God’s Unconventional Choices

As the apostle Paul wrote, “God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong…so that no one may boast before him” (1 Corinthians 27, 29). It’s not about our abilities or strengths, but about God’s power working through our weaknesses.

The Comfort of God’s Presence

So, how did God respond to Moses’ doubts and fears? He didn’t transform Moses into a confident, self-assured leader overnight. Instead, God promised to be with him, saying, “I will do this in your shoes, Moses.” It was God who would free the Israelites, working through Moses’ humble obedience.

Our Source of Strength

This same promise is available to us today. As Philippians 4:13 reminds us, “I can do everything through him who gives me strength.” It’s not about our own abilities, but about relying on God’s power to accomplish His purposes through us.

Second Chances and New Beginnings

Moses’ story is a testament to God’s grace and redemption. Despite his past failures, God gave him a second chance to make a difference. And God can do the same for us, using our weaknesses and failures to bring about something truly remarkable.
