Building Relationships, Not Tears
As women, we often find ourselves caught in a whirlwind of activity, striving to keep up with the demands of daily life. But in our quest to stay busy, we may inadvertently be damaging the very relationships we hold dear.
The Fruits of Busyness
One woman confided in me that her life was starting to fray at the edges, particularly in her home. Despite her love for being busy, she acknowledged that her frenetic pace was taking a toll on her loved ones. When we constantly drain ourselves, we often take out our frustrations on those closest to us, leading to complaining, frustration, and impatience.
The Consequences of Neglect
As we neglect our quiet time with God, we begin to notice the tell-tale signs of negativity, frustration, and complaining creeping into our lives and relationships. We may not even realize that we’re tearing down the very relationships we’re trying to build.
A Wise Woman’s Choice
So, how can we break this cycle? By making a conscious choice to prioritize our relationship with God and create margin in our lives. This means being intentional about our time investments, asking God to help us make time with Him a priority, and inviting His Holy Spirit to be the change agent in our lives.
The Great Exchange
As we surrender to God, He will help us build our relationships and provide for all our needs. The Bible promises us the fruit of the Holy Spirit – love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control – if we ask (Galatians 5:22).
A Prayer for Wisdom
Father in Heaven, forgive me for reacting foolishly and tearing down my relationships. Fill me afresh with the fruit of Your Holy Spirit. May I be a wise woman, filled with Your wisdom and revelation. Help me to choose my activities carefully and leave some margin in my life for rest. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.
