Encountering the Majesty of God
In the midst of chaos and uncertainty, it’s easy to lose sight of the One who reigns supreme. But what if we were to gaze upon the Lord in all His glory, seated on a throne, high and lifted up? Would we be ready to respond to His call, or would we shrink back in fear and inadequacy?
A Vision of Holiness
The prophet Isaiah experienced such a vision, and it changed him forever. In a time of political turmoil, when enemies threatened from without and faithfulness waned within, Isaiah beheld the Lord on His throne, surrounded by royal robes that seemed to fill the entire temple. This encounter left Isaiah acutely aware of his own sinfulness, prompting him to cry out, “Woe is me! I am a man of unclean lips.”
The Call to Follow
But God’s purpose in revealing Himself to Isaiah wasn’t to condemn, but to commission. He asked Isaiah, “Who will go for me?” And Isaiah, humbled and cleansed, responded, “Here I am. Send me.” Today, God still seeks those who will faithfully follow Him, regardless of the circumstances.
Seeing God Anew
Do we truly desire to see Jesus, not just as a sanitized, artistic representation, but as the majestic, holy God He is? Or are we content to keep Him at arm’s length, afraid to confront our own sinfulness and inadequacy? God longs to use us powerfully, but first, we must acknowledge our need of Him and receive His forgiveness.
Responding to the Call
So, how is God calling you? Into what situation is He asking you to step? Will you take the time to gaze upon His majesty, to hear His voice, and to repent before Him? As you do, you’ll find yourself prepared for the task ahead, equipped to follow Him into the unknown.
A Prayer
Father, help me to see You, to hear Your voice, and to respond to Your call. I confess my fear and inadequacy, and I ask that You cleanse me and prepare me for the journey ahead. May I be willing to step out in faith, trusting in Your power and guidance.
