The Fragrance of Life
As we journey through life, we’re called to spread the fragrance of Christ wherever we go. But what does it mean to be a vessel for God’s presence?
A Whiff of Pine
I’m reminded of the sweet aroma of pine whenever I cycle past a woodshed near my workplace. The scent transports me back to my childhood, surrounded by pine trees in our garden. It was a time of growth, exploration, and learning. And just as the fragrance of pine lingers, so too can the presence of God permeate every aspect of our lives.
Reflecting on Our Faith
When we wake up each morning, do we greet the day with a smile or a grimace? How do we perceive ourselves? Do we allow the fragrance of Jesus to seep deep into our hearts, washing away our sins and shortcomings? Or do we merely acknowledge God’s presence before rushing off to tackle our daily tasks?
The Depth of Our Faith
Jesus desires to redeem, encourage, and grow us. He wants all of us – our hopes, fears, sins, and secrets. He longs to be the fragrance of life to those around us, a beacon of hope to those seeking it. But are we willing to be vessels capable of carrying His presence? Have we allowed God’s love to penetrate beyond the surface, so that the aroma of Jesus remains?
Conforming to the World or Carrying the Fragrance?
We’re often tempted to conform to the world’s mold, becoming mere commuters in our faith. But God calls us to be more. He wants us to be fitting vessels, consecrated and set apart to carry His Holy Presence with us wherever we go.
A Prayer for Restoration
Lord, we come to You in humility and hope, asking for Your restoration. Not because we’re special, but because we know You are the Son of God. We ask for Your consecration, that we may be fitting vessels to carry Your presence with us. Holy Spirit, may Your fragrance splash over into the places You take us to today, in the Name of Jesus, amen.
