Serving with Purpose: Understanding Our Role in God’s Kingdom
As followers of Christ, we are privileged to serve Him and make His presence known in our generation. Our labor is a labor of love, driven by a deep desire to honor and glorify God. To fully understand our role in serving God, let’s examine seven “little words” that can bring clarity to our mission.
For the Lord: Understanding Our Mission
What we do is for the Lord, not for personal gain or recognition. Our actions are a response to His will and calling on our lives, not driven by ambition or personal agenda. This understanding helps us stay focused on our mission and avoid distractions.
Unto the Lord: Understanding Our Motivation
We serve unto the Lord, seeking to please Him above all else. Our motivation is to bring glory to God, rather than seeking to impress others. This mindset helps us stay humble and true to our purpose.
With the Lord: Understanding Our Assignment
We don’t serve alone; we serve with the Lord as co-laborers. This understanding helps us recognize our dependence on God and our role in His greater plan.
Because of the Lord: Understanding Our Stewardship
What we do is because of the Lord, acknowledging that our work is part of His vineyard. We are stewards of His ministry, not owners of our own. This perspective helps us stay accountable and faithful to God’s calling.
In the Lord: Understanding Our Position
We serve from a place of rest and grace, not from a place of striving or self-reliance. Our position is one of humility and dependence on God, recognizing that our strength comes from Him.
By the Lord: Understanding Our Source
All we have comes from God, and without Him, we would be empty vessels with nothing to give. Our source is the Lord, and we must continually seek to rely on Him.
Through the Lord: Understanding Our Effectiveness
We serve with the strength and power that God supplies, recognizing that our effectiveness comes not from human might or power, but from the Lord’s Spirit. This understanding helps us stay humble and dependent on God’s guidance.
By embracing these seven “little words,” we can gain a deeper understanding of our role in serving God and fulfill our purpose with confidence and humility.
