Unlocking the Power of Faith
A minister once confessed to an evangelist, “I have no faith in this matter, but I see it’s in the Word of God, and I’m going to act on God’s Word, no matter how I feel.” The evangelist’s response was profound: “That is faith!” This exchange highlights a crucial truth: the source of faith lies in the Word of God.
Receiving Faith Through God’s Word
The Bible tells us, “Faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.” We don’t have to strive to attain faith; instead, we receive it as we immerse ourselves in God’s Word. Unfortunately, many believers fail to experience God’s abundant blessings in Christ because they look inward for faith, rather than fixing their gaze on Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith.
Childlike Trust
An anonymous poem published in War Cry beautifully captures the essence of faith:
He does not even watch the way.
His father’s hand, he knows,
Will guide his tiny feet along
The pathway as he goes
A childlike faith! A perfect trust!
God grant us today,
A faith that grasps our Father’s hand
And trusts Him all the way.
A Wise Approach
Today, let’s commit to being wise in the ways of God by seeking help from the One we can trust. As Psalm 62:1-7 reminds us, our hope and confidence come from God alone.
Reflection
Take a moment to reflect on your faith journey. Are you trusting in your own abilities or seeking guidance from God’s Word? Remember, faith is not something we achieve; it’s a gift we receive as we read and apply God’s Word to our lives.
