When Faith Meets Surrender
As I stood at the crossroads of desperation and doubt, I was reminded of the courageous stance of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego before King Nebuchadnezzar. Their unwavering declaration – “Our God may rescue us; he may not rescue us, but that doesn’t matter because he’s still our God and we will only worship him” (Daniel 3:16-18) – resonated deeply within me.
The Struggle is Real
I had been waiting on God to fulfill a promise, but my patience was wearing thin. Frustration, anger, and depression crept in as I demanded God to act on my timetable. I tried to force the door open with my own strength, only to realize the futility of my efforts. It was then that I encountered my own “Meshach moment” – a moment of surrender, where I acknowledged my total dependence on God.
The Power of Surrender
In that moment, I echoed the words of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego: “God may provide for me; he may not provide for me, but that doesn’t matter because he’s still my God and I’ll serve him no matter what” (Daniel 3:16-18). This surrender was not born out of obedience, but out of exhaustion – I had nowhere else to turn.
The Wait is Not a Waste
As I reflect on my journey, I’ve come to realize that sometimes God is waiting on me, rather than the other way around. Perhaps, in your own season of waiting, God is leading you toward a “Meshach moment”, where you’ll be forced to confront your own limitations and cling to Him with unwavering faith.
Dependence is the Path to Freedom
God’s plans for us are precious, and He’s teaching us to depend on Him. In the waiting, He’s refining our character, pruning our desires, and preparing us for the next chapter of our journey. Will you surrender to His sovereignty, even when the answer seems elusive?
