Radiating God’s Light
Jesus’ profound statement, “I am the light of the world” (John 8:12), resonates deeply within us. He further emphasizes our role as beacons of light, urging us to “let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven” (Matthew 5:14-16).
A Morning Ritual
Every morning, I ignite a candle in my quiet corner, symbolizing my connection with God and His Word. The soft, white glow helps me focus on Jesus as the light of my life. Lately, I noticed the candle’s waxy sides softening and shrinking, its flame dwindling. This prompted me to take action.
Refining the Light
I extinguished the flame, removed the melted wax, and gently reshaped the candle’s edges. Though shorter, the candle now burns brighter than before. Similarly, God refines my life, skillfully removing layers that dim my light. Through His gentle guidance, I find joy and fulfillment in serving Him, drawing others to Jesus.
When the Flame Flickers
Occasionally, my light flickers, losing its vibrancy. God intervenes, gently nudging me to reassess my priorities. He reminds me to rest, exercise, and find pleasure in simple things, like taking a stroll or gazing at the clouds. Though my “candle” may appear less perfect, its flame burns brighter, illuminating the path for others to follow.
Treasuring God’s Refining Touch
May I cherish the work of God’s loving fingers in my life, rather than resisting His gentle guidance. May my light shine brighter, reflecting the beauty of my Father in heaven.
