Rediscovering the Lost
In the midst of our daily routines, it’s easy to overlook the significance of reuniting with what’s been lost. Whether it’s a misplaced item or a soul adrift, the joy of rediscovery is palpable.
A Familiar Scenario
As I go about my work, I’m often tasked with reuniting USB flash drives with their rightful owners – typically weary students who’ve misplaced them. Without identification, these tiny devices sit orphaned, waiting for their owners to realize their loss and come forward. The urgency is palpable when a student’s entire dissertation or assignment is stored on that single device.
A Parallel in Faith
This experience reminds me of the parable of the lost coin in Luke 15:8-10. Just as the woman searches diligently for her lost coin, Jesus seeks out those who are lost, unaware of their spiritual state. He longs to connect with them, to bring them back into the fold. It’s a profound reminder that peace and reconciliation in Jesus are available to all, regardless of their circumstances.
A Call to Action
As followers of Jesus, we’re called to play a part in bringing the Good News to those who may not know they’re being sought out. It’s easy to take our faith for granted, but Jesus’ relentless pursuit of the lost is a powerful reminder of His love for each individual. We’re tasked with sharing His message of hope, especially with those who may seem successful on the surface but are spiritually adrift.
A Prayer of Gratitude
Dear Lord, thank You for not leaving us to gather dust, unwanted and unloved. Enable us to play our part in bringing Your Good News to those who need it most. We rejoice in Your love, which seeks us out and longs to reunite us with You. May we be Your instruments of hope, sharing Your message of reunion with a world in need. Amen.
