Unlocking the Power of Prayer
Rethinking Our Approach
When we pray, do we truly understand what we’re asking for? Mike, a young man, once thought that if he prayed long enough, God would grant him his every desire. But he soon realized that this mindset was more self-centered than God-centered.
A Biblical Perspective
The Bible teaches us that prayer is not a formula where we ask and God automatically responds. In 1 John 5:14, we’re reminded that “if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.” This verse highlights the importance of aligning our prayers with God’s plan.
Seeking God’s Will
Mike’s approach to prayer has since shifted. He now prays with the understanding that God’s plan will unfold in His timing, and it will ultimately be for his best interest. Whether we’re praying for a loved one’s salvation or a new job opportunity, we must surrender our desires to God’s will.
Expecting God’s Response
When we pray, we should be open to God’s answer, whether it’s yes, no, wait, or something entirely unexpected. By doing so, we demonstrate our trust in His sovereignty and wisdom.
