A Call to National Revival
As we embark on a new year, many of us are reflecting on the state of our nation. The last election cycle was all about change, but what kind of change did we really want? Were we seeking a transformation of the heart or just a shift in power?
The True Source of Our Problems
The headlines of the past year reveal a deeper issue – a crisis of character and integrity. The banking system collapsed due to reckless greed, the automotive industry teeters on the brink of bankruptcy, and corruption runs rampant in both the private and public sectors. In fact, a recent analysis by USA Today ranked Florida as the state with the most public officials arrested for corruption.
Beyond Economic Solutions
Government bailouts and the appointment of czars may provide temporary fixes, but they won’t address the root of the problem. We need to look beyond economic solutions and examine our own hearts. The answer lies in the timeless wisdom of the Bible.
A Formula for National Redemption
In 2 Chronicles 7:14, we find a prescription for national healing: “If My people who are called by My name shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” This ancient formula remains relevant today.
A Call to Humility and Prayer
If we want real change, we must humble ourselves, seek God’s face, and turn away from our selfish desires. Only then can we expect God to hear our prayers, forgive our sins, and heal our land. It’s time for each of us to take personal responsibility, acknowledging our own sin and seeking forgiveness.
Blessing God, Not Just Asking for Blessings
We often ask God to bless America, but do we truly bless God in return? As we begin this new year, let us fall to our knees, acknowledging our sin, and asking for national forgiveness. May America indeed bless God in 2009, and may revival sweep across our great nation.
