Rediscovering the Heart of Worship
A Call to Authenticity
In our pursuit of spiritual fulfillment, we often find ourselves lost in a sea of superficiality. We’ve legitimized shallow faith, settling for a watered-down version of what it means to truly know God. But the Lord is calling us back to our dwelling place – the promised land of His living Presence.
The Two Tracks to Destiny
There are two core attitudes that will guide us into our destiny in God: heartfelt abandonment and relentless longing. The first is characterized by transcendent awe, unspeakable joy, and irrepressible love, all born out of experiencing God’s presence. The second is marked by an unquenchable thirst to find Him, even in times of seeming absence.
Breaking Free from Exile
We’ve lived too long in exile from our inheritance, content with a distant relationship with God. But the Lord is beckoning us to return to our true home – His Presence. It’s time to seek Him, not just His hand or blessings, but His heart.
The Imperative of Seeking
In 2 Chronicles 7:14, we’re reminded that seeking God’s face is essential to true repentance and prayer. David’s response to this call is a model for us: “Thy face, O God, I shall seek” (Psalms 27). We must seek God for His heart, not just His hand.
Drawing Near to God
The Holy Spirit invites us to draw near to God, promising that as we do, He will draw near to us. It’s in this nearness that we’ll find healing for our land and revival for our souls. Hosea 5:15-16 encourages us to respond to God’s call, acknowledging our guilt and seeking His face.
A Cry of the Heart
Is this not the cry of your heart – to be saturated with the living presence of God? Come to us, O Lord, like the rain watering the earth! Let us consecrate a space in our churches and homes as a “tent of meeting,” where we can seek God without distraction.
The Promise of God
The Spirit within us searches the depths of God, guiding us into the presence of Jesus. If you’re weary of a superficial life, seeking the Lord can be the turning point in your walk with Him. Our hope rests in the integrity of His word: “And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart” (Jeremiah 29:12-14a).
A Prayer of Longing
Lord Jesus, my soul yearns and longs for Your courts. Guide me into Your holy Presence, dear Lord. Let me find You again in a new way. I cannot live without Your constant love. I am desperate for You, Jesus. Restore my longing for You until I find You, and in finding You, abandon myself totally into Your love. Amen.
