Igniting Purpose: The Transformative Power of Enthusiasm

Unleashing the Power of Enthusiasm

Morning Mantras and Meaningful Moments

The rhythmic clapping of our hands echoed through the morning air as we chanted our daily mantra: “Alive, alert, awake, enthusiastic!” Faster, faster, faster. This energizing ritual was an integral part of our early morning leaders meeting at Winners Camp, a residential camp for teenagers on the stunning island of Oahu, Hawaii.

The Spark of Greatness

Ralph Waldo Emerson’s wise words resonated deeply: “Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm.” As we embarked on our daily tasks, shaping the lives and hearts of our young campers, it was impossible not to be enthusiastic about the day ahead. Those seven unforgettable days remain etched in my memory, along with the faces of the incredible individuals I had the privilege to meet.

Uncovering the Roots of Enthusiasm

A fascinating discovery I made a few years ago was that the word “enthusiasm” originates from the Greek term “theos,” meaning “God within.” This revelation sparked a profound realization: when we’re enthusiastic about something, it may be an indication that we’re fulfilling our purpose, doing what we were meant to do on this earth.

Finding God in the Everyday

For me, enthusiasm is a telltale sign that I’m aligned with my true calling. I find God in the moments when my passion and excitement are ignited. As each new day breaks, I ask myself: Am I alert, awake, and enthusiastic about the possibilities that lie ahead? And if not, what’s holding me back?

A Prayer for Enthusiasm

Dear God, I invite you into every activity I undertake today. Fill me with enthusiasm as I embark on the work you’ve set out for me to do. Amen.

Reflection and Renewal

As I reflect on those unforgettable days at Winners Camp, I’m reminded of the transformative power of enthusiasm. May we all find the spark within us that drives us to live a life of purpose, passion, and meaning.
