The Unlikely Heroes of Faith
God’s Surprising Selection Process
Have you ever wondered why God chooses to work through imperfect, flawed individuals to bring about change in the world? Perhaps it’s because there’s a vast pool of them to choose from! God has always used ordinary people to achieve extraordinary things.
A Legacy of Imperfection
Take Abraham, the father of faith, who wasn’t above telling a lie or two. Or David, the great king, who committed adultery and murder. These individuals were far from perfect, yet God still chose to use them in mighty ways. Their shortcomings were eclipsed by God’s boundless love.
The Power of Imperfection
So, how can God possibly use someone like you to make a difference? Look to the examples of those who have come before us! Because you’re imperfect, you can speak to the reality of making mistakes. Because you’re a sinner, you can testify to the transformative power of forgiveness. God takes the broken and the brittle, and transforms them into trophies of his love and strength.
A New Creation
As the apostle Paul wrote, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.” (2 Corinthians 5:17) This promise holds true for each of us, regardless of our past mistakes or shortcomings.
From Brokenness to Beauty
God’s pattern is to take the imperfect, the sinful, and the fearful, and to shape them into vessels of his love and redemption. If God only chose the righteous, the list would be extremely short – with only Jesus qualifying. But instead, he chooses to work through the likes of us, imperfect as we are.
Embracing Our Imperfections
So, take heart! Your imperfections are not a hindrance to God’s plan; they’re an opportunity for him to showcase his love and strength. Will you allow God to use your brokenness to bring hope and restoration to others?
