Finding Strength in Uncertain Times
When tragedy strikes, it’s natural to feel lost and helpless. For Jana Alcorn, the sudden loss of her husband Bill was a devastating blow. As a representative for Christ, Bill had spent his life helping others, but his exposure to Agent Orange in Vietnam ultimately took his life, leaving Jana to pick up the pieces.
A New Purpose
As Jana knelt beside her son Jordan’s bed, she felt the weight of her new responsibility. Without Bill, their nighttime prayers, once a special bonding experience, now seemed empty and hollow. But in that moment, God spoke to her heart, reminding her of her new purpose: to raise Jordan to be a godly man.

As Psalm 143:8 reminds us, “Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you. Show me the way I should go, for to you I lift up my soul.” In the face of uncertainty, it’s easy to lose hope. But God’s message to us is clear: trust me, and I will guide you through the valley of the shadow of death.
