Experiencing the Unwavering Presence of God
In the midst of life’s darkest moments, we often find ourselves seeking solace in the comforting arms of our Creator. It’s in these times of crisis that we’re reminded of God’s unwavering presence, a presence that’s always available to us, regardless of our circumstances.
A Glimpse of Intimacy
I recall a conversation with a friend who had recently undergone a series of grueling chemo sessions. As she reflected on her experience, she spoke of the profound intimacy she felt with the Lord during that challenging period. Her words resonated deeply with me, transporting me back to a similar season of grief when my husband and I lost our baby in 1992. In both cases, we felt an unmistakable sense of God’s nearness, a comforting reminder that we were never alone.
The Evidence of Scripture
Our experiences were a testament to the countless Bible verses that speak of God’s comfort, His constant presence, and the sufficiency of His grace. We were living proof that even in the darkest valleys, God’s magnificent presence can be felt, providing solace and strength.
Pursuing Intimacy Beyond the Valley
As we navigated our way out of those dark times, my friend and I both acknowledged our desire to maintain that special closeness with the Lord. We recognized that it’s possible to experience His presence even in the ordinary days, not just in times of crisis. By intentionally pursuing Him, we can draw near to God and know His magnificent presence in our daily lives.
The Humbling Honor of Drawing Near
James 4:8 reminds us, “Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.” This verse serves as a gentle nudge, encouraging us to seek Him sincerely, without the prompting of adversity. In doing so, we can experience the humbling honor of knowing God’s presence, ever near to us, even on the most mundane of days.
