When God’s Timing Differs from Ours
In today’s fast-paced world, we’re accustomed to instant gratification. From instant food to rapid solutions, we expect quick results. However, God’s timing often doesn’t align with ours, and delays can be uncomfortable.
The Story of Mordecai: A Lesson in Faith
In the book of Esther, we find a powerful example of God’s timing. Mordecai, a faithful servant, uncovered an assassination plot against King Xerxes. Although he saved the king’s life, his reward was seemingly nonexistent. His name was merely recorded in the chronicles of the king. It’s natural to feel forgotten and disappointed in such situations.
Faithfulness Despite Delays
Mordecai, however, continued to serve faithfully. Later, when his life was threatened by a wicked official named Haman, God orchestrated a divine appointment. The king, unable to sleep, had his officials read to him from the records of his rule. As fate would have it, they stumbled upon the story of Mordecai’s bravery. The king, realizing Mordecai had received no reward, planned a rewards scheme, and ironically, Haman was chosen to carry it out.
The Power of Divine Appointments
This unexpected delay turned into a divine appointment, not only saving Mordecai’s life but also the entire Jewish race from destruction. Mordecai was eventually appointed to the second-highest position in the empire. This story teaches us that God can turn delays into divine appointments, bringing forth divine blessings.
Trusting God Through Delays
If you’re troubled by delayed answers to your prayers, remember Mordecai’s story. Trust that God is working behind the scenes, even when His timing differs from yours. You may be on the verge of a divine appointment, one that will bring unexpected blessings.
A Prayer for Faith
Lord, help me trust you through the delays in my life. May I have the faith to believe that You will use them to bring about divine appointments. Amen!
