A Lesson in Trust from a Child’s Eyes
As we sat down for dinner with our family, our young grandson’s excitement was palpable. But it wasn’t the food that caught his attention – it was his auntie’s laptop. She was making a Skype call to her husband, who was working on a yacht in the middle of the ocean. Our grandson watched with wide eyes as his uncle’s face appeared on the screen, chatting with him from afar.
The Power of Misconception
In a playful joke, his uncle pretended to be trapped inside the computer, unable to escape. But our grandson didn’t find it funny. He became distraught, demanding that someone rescue his uncle from the digital prison. We had to reassure him that his uncle was safe and sound, thousands of miles away. This incident got me thinking – how often do I react similarly to situations I don’t fully understand?
A Reflection of Our Relationship with God
Just like my grandson, I can become frustrated and angry when faced with seemingly insurmountable problems. It’s easy to feel helpless and wonder why God isn’t intervening. But trusting in His loving nature brings me peace. I’m reminded that God works in mysterious ways, often beyond my comprehension.
The Danger of Limited Knowledge
In my finite understanding, I may panic about things that are beyond my control. But I must trust that God has a perfect plan, even when I don’t understand it. As Romans 8:28 reminds us, “All things work together for good, for those who love God and are called by Him to fulfill His purposes.” This promise brings comfort when faced with life’s crises.
Trusting in God’s Sovereignty
I may never grasp why God allows certain challenges to enter my life or the lives of those I love. But I can rest assured that He is always in control. Trusting in His goodness and sovereignty frees me from worry and fear, allowing me to face life’s uncertainties with confidence.
