Trusting God’s Justice: Letting Go of Revenge

The Supreme Judge of Heaven

God sits alone on the highest court of heaven, donning the robe of ultimate authority. The gavel remains firmly in His hand, refusing to be shared with anyone. As the apostle Paul reminds us in Romans 12:19, “Leave revenge to Me; I’ll take care of it.” Yet, we often try to usurp God’s role, becoming self-appointed vigilantes who think we can mete out justice better than the Almighty.

A Dangerous Assumption

We assume that God might not punish enough or punish quickly enough. We take matters into our own hands, thinking we can do a better job than God. But is this really what we want to say to our Creator? Jesus, the perfect Son of God, never took vengeance into His own hands. When He suffered, He didn’t threaten or retaliate, instead leaving everything to the One who judges fairly (1 Peter 2:23).

The Perfect Judge

Only God can render accurate judgments, dispensing perfect justice. Vengeance belongs to Him, and Him alone. It’s time to relinquish our desire for revenge and leave our enemies in God’s capable hands. By doing so, we acknowledge that God is the supreme judge, and we trust in His wisdom and justice.

A Lesson from Jesus

Jesus, who knew right from wrong better than anyone, chose not to take revenge. Instead, He entrusted everything to God, the ultimate judge. Shouldn’t we follow His example? When we try to take matters into our own hands, we’re essentially saying we don’t trust God to do what’s right. But God is the only one who can truly render justice. Let’s learn to trust in His goodness and leave vengeance to Him.
