The Paradox of Free Will: A Divine Dilemma

The Birth of Free Will

In a moment of profound stillness, the Creator’s hands carefully crafted a form from the earth. The Garden’s inhabitants paused, mesmerized by the spectacle. Hawks suspended their flight, giraffes stretched their long necks, and trees bowed in reverence. Even the delicate butterflies halted their dance, fixing their gaze on the lifeless form.

A Declaration of Sovereignty

“You will love me, nature,” the Creator declared, “for I have designed you to do so. You will obey me, universe, for that is your purpose. And you will reflect my glory, skies, for that is how you were created.” But then, the Creator’s tone shifted, “Yet, this one will be different. This one will have the power to choose.”

The Seed of Choice

The Creator reached within himself and produced a mysterious seed. “It’s called ‘choice,’” he explained. The angelic assembly stood in stunned silence, gazing upon the lifeless form. One brave angel ventured a question, “But what if he chooses not to love?” The Creator’s response was enigmatic, “Come, I will show you.”

A Glimpse into Eternity

Together, the Creator and the angel traversed the realms of time, witnessing the dual consequences of humanity’s free will. They beheld spontaneous love, voluntary devotion, and chosen tenderness – beauty unparalleled in heaven. But they also encountered the bitter fruit of selfishness, rotten hearts, and forgotten loyalties. The angel was horrified, questioning the wisdom of granting humanity the power of choice.

The Unavoidable Path

The Creator walked further into the future, pausing beside a tree that would soon become a cradle. He smelled the hay that would surround him and foresaw the events that would unfold. With each step, the path became clearer – a path that would lead to sacrifice, pain, and ultimately, redemption.

The Weight of Love

The Creator knew that to remove the choice would be to remove the love. He looked around, foreseeing a scene of unimaginable sorrow – three figures hung on three crosses, arms outstretched, heads bowed. In that moment, he heard the cry that he would someday scream: “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”

The Birth of Humanity

As the Creator stepped back into the Garden, he gazed upon the clay creation with an overflowing love. He had died for humanity before he had even created them. With a gentle breath, the dust stirred, and the chest rose, cracking the red mud. The cheeks fleshened, a finger moved, and an eye opened. But it was the stirring of the spirit that left all who witnessed it in awe.

A Reflection of the Divine

The angel whispered in wonder, “It looks like… it appears so much like… it is him!” For within the man, God had placed a divine seed, a seed of his own self. The Creator had created not a creature, but another creator – one who could love in return. Now, the choice is ours.
